Diagnodent is a laser system that causes the decay products in a tooth called porphyrins to fluoresce, or glow. When these metabolic byproducts of microbial metabolism are detected, decay is present. This system allows us an advanced method for detecting cavities at an early stage when it may be difficult to determine with an explorer or with x-rays.
